Mel’s theater journey began in Cleveland and took her to Chicago, where she taught and choreographed for Arthur Murray Dance Company and worked in comedy, improv, and sketch. After moving to Los Angeles, she appeared in commercials, TV, and film before relocating to Panama, where she helped build the professional theater scene in both Spanish and English. Now based in Charleston, Mel serves on the Board of Trustees at Charleston Stage and continues to share her passion for the arts locally and nationwide.
Kat Goldberg is a creative powerhouse, a mix of Genie and Willy Wonka, who has been bringing theater worlds to life with Ms. Skovron since 2018. She transforms imagination into reality through sets and props that immerse students in storytelling and showcase their talent.
When she’s not designing for the stage, Kat is a painter featured at Perspective Gallery, Nidum Studio, and Beeple Studios. Her inventive eye turns everyday objects into something magical, on stage, in art, and around the community. Keep an eye out for her Pirate House in Carolina Park each October!
Amy Brownewell is an arts educator, theater professional, and program leader with 20+ years of experience spanning K–12 schools, higher education, and professional stage production. She currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Graduate Education at the College of Charleston and Theater Program Director at Jennie Moore Elementary School for the Creative Arts, where she directs large-scale student productions and mentors emerging educators.
Previously, Amy worked as a Production Stage Manager in Los Angeles regional theater, collaborating with The Geffen Playhouse, Center Theatre Group, and South Coast Repertory. Her career bridges professional theater and education, driven by a commitment to creativity, access, and community building.
She holds a B.A. in Theatre from UNC Wilmington and is recognized for designing inclusive arts programs that develop confidence, ensemble skills, and leadership in young performers.
Ms. Alysia (“uh-Lee-shuh”) Lambert is a passionate music educator and performer with over 20 years of experience teaching choir, drama, and dance. She currently serves as the general music teacher at W.B. Goodwin Elementary in North Charleston, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2023 for her outstanding commitment to student performance and creativity.
Before joining Goodwin, Ms. Lambert led award-winning choirs at Moultrie Middle (Teacher of the Year 2020) and high schools in Illinois, where her ensembles performed at state conferences and earned top honors at every festival. Her directing credits include Oklahoma!, Into the Woods, The Sound of Music, and many more.
