Theater Troupe & Dance Competition Team

Seasonal creativity. Industry access. Extra sparkle.

About Our Theater Troupe

At Stage Door Arts Academy, our Theater Troupe program gives young performers the spotlight and everything they need to shine. We welcome students from 1st through 12th grade, offering three distinct groups:

Mini Movie Stars

(1st to 2nd Grade)

Junior Troupe

(3rd to 5th Grade)

Senior Troupe

(6th to 12th Grade)

Every year, our troupes work together to bring a full-scale production to the stage. Students experience all aspects of musical theater, including acting, singing, dancing, and the magic behind the scenes such as costumes, props, set design, and lighting.

Our troupe members receive high-level instruction from certified acting and music teachers who have a wealth of industry experience. We don’t just teach lines and lyrics. We guide students to discover their voices, build their confidence, and learn to work as a team both on stage and behind the curtain.

Whether your child is stepping onto the stage for the first time or is already a budding performer, Stage Door’s Theater Troupe is the place to grow, create, and celebrate the art of theater with one show-stopping production each year.

About Our Dance Competition Team

Stage Door Arts Academy’s Dance Competition Team is designed for dancers ages 5 to 18 who are eager to challenge themselves, make lasting memories, and share their passion for dance. Our team gives students the exciting opportunity to compete in regional competitions throughout the year, representing our studio with skill, energy, and teamwork.

We believe that competitions should be fun, supportive, and focused on personal growth. Our program emphasizes building confidence, developing technique, and creating a positive, encouraging environment where every dancer feels valued.

To help our dancers grow strong and resilient, all competition team members participate in a weekly Strength & Conditioning class, in addition to regular dance rehearsals. As competition season approaches, dancers can expect extra rehearsals to ensure they feel prepared and confident on stage.

Competition classes are clearly marked on our studio schedule, making it easy for families to find the right options. At Stage Door, our goal is for every competition dancer to leave class not just as a better performer, but also with new friends, great memories, and a love for dance that lasts a lifetime.

Junior Dance Team (Petite & Youth Dance Companies, Ages 5–10)

Stage Door’s Junior Dance Team unites our Petite Company (ages 5–7) and Youth Company (ages 8–10) into a dynamic, high-energy program for young dancers ready to commit to competitive training. Dancers are required to take Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Technique & Conditioning classes each week to build strong technical foundations and versatile performance skills.

Competition classes are designated on the schedule, with additional weekend rehearsals as competition season approaches. Junior Team members participate in 2–3 regional competitions per year, gaining early-stage experience in performance, teamwork, and discipline.

Auditions are held prior to each season, and placement is based on skill, potential, and commitment. This program is ideal for dancers who are passionate, driven, and ready to step confidently into the spotlight.

Senior Dance Team (Junior & Senior Dance Companies, Ages 11–18)

Our Senior Dance Team includes the Junior Company (ages 11–13) and Senior Company (ages 14–18), forming the core of Stage Door’s most advanced competitive dance program. Designed for dedicated dancers who are serious about growth, this team trains rigorously in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Technique & Conditioning as required weekly classes.

Competition classes are scheduled separately, and dancers should be prepared for additional weekend rehearsals as competitions near. Each season, Senior Team members compete in 2–3 regional events, developing stage presence, precision, and artistry at a high level.

Auditions are required for team placement each season. This program demands focus, commitment, and drive—and rewards dancers with unmatched training, elite performance opportunities, and a powerful sense of accomplishment.
