Stage Door Arts

Stage Door Arts Academy was founded on the belief that the arts build not just talent, but character. We offer a safe, joyful, and challenging environment where students take risks, lean in, and shine — both on stage and in life.

Meet the Mentors Behind the Magic

Amy Toresco

Amy Toresco is a lifelong dancer and passionate educator with deep roots in the competitive dance world. She trained intensively throughout her youth before continuing her studies at Bucknell University, where she performed with the Bucknell Dance Company and earned a minor in Dance. Her passion for movement extended internationally—while studying abroad in New Zealand, Amy joined a local hip hop crew and performed throughout Auckland.

Following college, Amy expanded her skills into the fitness industry, becoming a certified instructor in Les Mills programs, kickboxing, and indoor cycling. She has spent the past five years leading high-energy cycle classes at Society in Mt. Pleasant. Amy is also the co-founder of Hip Hop Mamas, a community-driven program that empowers moms to rediscover their confidence and love of dance.

As co-owner of Stage Door Arts Academy, Amy combines her operational expertise with a creative spirit to cultivate a studio environment where students thrive both artistically and personally.

Jen Skovron

Jen Skovron brings over two decades of educational and theatrical experience to Stage Door Arts Academy. Originally from New York, she began her career as an elementary school teacher before founding a successful school-wide musical theater program. Recognizing the power of performance in language development, she went on to design and lead “ESL through the Theater Arts,” an innovative program that helped non-English-speaking students gain fluency and confidence through drama.

After relocating to South Carolina, Jen continued her dual passions for teaching and theater. She taught at both Burns Elementary and Carolina Park Elementary School, where she once again established thriving musical theater programs. Eventually, she transitioned full-time into arts education, founding and directing Stage Door’s theater division.

Jen holds a BS in English and Creative Writing from Northeastern University and an MS in Elementary Education from LIU-Southampton. Certified to teach from Nursery through Grade 12 in both New York and South Carolina, she combines her academic rigor with a creative spark to build an inclusive and empowering theater experience for every student.

Frank Costanzo

Frank Costanzo brings over 45 years of experience as a music educator to Stage Door Arts Academy. After earning his Master’s Degree in music education from NYU, Frank taught general and choral music to students in kindergarten through sixth grade at Westhampton Beach Public Schools on Long Island, New York, for 33 years.

During his career, Frank directed annual theater productions for fifth and sixth graders and founded a vocal jazz group for high school students in grades nine through twelve. Every summer for 25 years, he served as theater director at a local day camp, producing shows for children in grades four through six.

After retiring from full-time teaching, Frank continued to share his love of music as a leave replacement teacher for 11 years before relocating to South Carolina. Since moving south, he has enjoyed giving private vocal and piano lessons to friends and neighbors, simply for the joy of music.

Frank is excited to bring his passion and expertise to a new generation of students at Stage Door Arts Academy. He believes in creating a supportive and encouraging environment where every student has the chance to discover their voice and shine on stage.
